Chapter Nine

Sutton

Living with Tombstone is driving me insane. I swear he enjoys tormenting me.

Not in the way of beating and abusing. No, it’s him constantly walking around in only a pair of low-riding sweatpants or basketball shorts. Without the doors being up, I’ve even caught him in the shower, and dammit, it’s getting to me.

It’s been two months since I’ve had sex, a month and a half since my ‘accident.’ That’s what my therapist has me calling it.

After talking with Bethany and then us having dinner together, I'd got to see how happy her life has become, and I want that. So, I took it upon myself to ask Stella when she came to see me the day after about finding me a therapist. To my surprise, she already had one lined up. I couldn’t believe it.

The very same day, she took me to my appointment without Tombstone knowing about it. I smile at the memory of when she had dropped me off.

“Thank you, Stella. I really appreciate it,” I state genuinely as we walk toward the front door together.

“It’s not a problem,” she says, returning my smile. “I’m happy Mollie was able to help.”

Meeting Dr. Jordan, I didn’t know what to think until I was in her office, and she told me to call her Mollie. She’d been sweet and compassionate. Something about her made me open up, and I ended up having a two-hour session with her where we talked. Normally I wouldn’t have talked to anyone about this, but my wanting to get better, to have my own forever filled happiness spurred me on, and when I told Mollie this, she thought it was a good goal to work toward.

“She really did. Mollie suggested I try meditation and yoga. She thinks it might help me center and find balance within myself.” I’ve never done yoga before, but Ivy has, so I’m sure I can get her to show me.

“That’s awesome. I’ve been doing yoga for years now. I’ll tell . . .”

“What the fuck?” Tombstone snarls interrupting Stella before she can finish. Pivoting to face him, I take in his furious features. “Where the fuck have you been?”

Oh boy, he’s pissed.

“Um.” I lick my bottom lip nervously, pulling it between my teeth. Drawing Tombstone’s gaze to my lip.

“I took her to the doctor. We just finished up and came back here,” Stella answers for me.

Nodding, I lower my gaze and fidget. “I had my first therapy session.”

Tombstone releases a harsh breath and pulls me to him and buries his head in my neck as he calms himself. “You should’ve told me. I could’ve taken you.”

Blinking away the memory, I focus on the sound of Tombstone’s grunts as I stare at him working with the weights. Since finding out I’ve been going to therapy, he’s been sure to go with me and be there if I need him. I think he had really wanted to be the one to take me the first time. Only he’d been called away for church and had left me for the first time in over a week alone.
